Durham North Carolina native, Nina Means, took an unconventional path into the fashion industry after a career in public health. She took a leap of faith moving to Italy to learn under masters in apparel design. Upon returning to the US and graduating from Fashion Institute of Technology, she interned for Rebecca Taylor, designed for American Eagle Outfitters and H by Halston. The Nina Means Collection is an expression of elegant minimalism – the desire for fashion to comfortable yet elevated.
NINA MEANS PHILOSOPHY:
You will find that Nina Means accommodates the curves of a woman’s body because we believe that women should not have to hide their femininity or force their bodies into unnatural shapes. We commit to creating clothing that celebrates and flatters your best assets.
We are committed to producing our product freely and fairly with artisans that treat their employees with respect. We strive to design beautiful garments that reduce fabric wastage as much as possible. We are not fast fashion. We create garments that are intended to last and keep up with you and your lifestyle.
WOMEN EMPOWERING WOMEN
Although, Nina has left the world of public health, she still has a heart and passion for issues that improve the lives of women. She also believes in increasing business with women-owned enterprises. Lastly, the collection itself is an empowerment signaling to women that comfort, elegance, and femininity can walk hand in hand.
